Our Institution
CEGER provides strategic support to the Portuguese Government on Information and Communication Technology. It is responsible for a more effective use of Information and Communication Technology, networks and the Internet for achieving better Government.
A more effective use of electronic communication networks, better and more Secure Government and electronic collaboration within and across Government represent key strategic assets for competitiveness and Innovation in Government.
CEGER assumes as a strategic goal the modernization of technology infrastructure and Government electronic services.
CEGER is the Supervisory Board of the Electronic Platforms in Government Procurement (Decree-Law n. 32639-A/2008, 26th December) and manages the Entity for Public Electronic Certifi cation (Decree-Law 116-A/2006, 16th June) within the Public Electronic Certifi cation System.

CEGER is the responsible entity for registration of GOV.PT Internet sub-domains, upon request of the following organisations and according to their competences:
- Departments and members of Government
- Services and Organisations in the Public Administration
- Services and Organisations in the Regional Administration
- Other non-permanent organisations and entities directly dependent of these entities, and upon their request
