CEGER is the Supervisory Board of the Electronic Platforms in Government Procurement (Decree-Law n. 32639-A/2008, 26th December) and manages the Entity for Public Electronic Certification (Decree-Law 116-A/2006, 16th June) within the Public Electronic Certification System.

Entity for Public Electronic Certification
The Director of CEGER, manages, ex-officio, the Entity for Public Electronic Certification - ECEE under Public Electronic Certification System Law 116-A/2006, 16 June).

International Technology Cooperation
CEGER is implementing several international technology agreements and leading two international projects on innovation and technology.
Noteworthy, recent Technology Cooperation Agreements signed with Portuguese Speaking Countries, with Brasil in June 2009 and Cabo Verde in July 2009.
And two international projects, DISASTER RECOVERY and K NETWORKS, being CEGER lead partner with other partners from Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar, France and the United Kingdom.

With the authority of the Prime Minister, Ceger operates in the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, reporting directly to the Secretary of State of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

CEGER provides strategic support to the Portuguese Government on Information and Communication Technology. It is responsible for a more effective use of Information and Communication Technology, networks and the Internet for achieving better Government.

A more effective use of electronic communication networks, better and more Secure Government and electronic collaboration within and across Government represent key strategic assets for competitiveness and Innovation in Government.

CEGER assumes as a strategic goal the modernization of technology infrastructure and Government electronic services.
